Syllabus

Summary:

This course deals with the nature and description of the Earth's gravity and magnetic fields, and their use in remotely sensing the composition and structure of the interior of the Earth. As an exploration course, emphasis is placed on application of the gravity and magnetic methods to interpreting the shallow crust. (The use of gravity and magnetic data, as well as seismic and other data, in interpreting the composition and structure of the Earth on a global scale is covered in more detail in Solid Earth Geophysics - Gphy 5713.)
